Continuing the TWT Mentorship program, Tech Writer’s Tribe is introducing a Workshop to help you learn how to write using the task-based approach.
Divided into three sessions, the program is designed to help you learn the tricks of the task-based method.
This hands-on workshop equips participants with the knowledge and tools to write clear task-based topics, use AI to generate content ideas, and edit AI-generated drafts into high-quality technical documentation. By the end of the session, attendees will confidently integrate AI into their writing workflow while maintaining accuracy, usability, and user focus.

Writing Effective Task Topics
Time: 60 minutes
Goal: Understand how to create goal-based, user-focused task topics.
Topics:
- What is a task topic?
- Task-based vs. conceptual writing
- Examples of effective task topics
Activities:
- Analyze examples (good vs. bad)
- Write 2 task topics from sample product scenarios
Module 2: Using AI to Support Task Topic Creation
Time: 30 minutes
Goal: Learn how to use AI tools to generate and refine task topics.
Topics:
- Prompt writing basics (clarity, specificity, constraints)
- Demonstration: Using ChatGPT to generate task topics
- Evaluating AI output
Activities:
- Group prompt writing and live testing
- Review and edit AI-generated task topics
Module 3: Editing AI-Generated Content for Documentation
Time: 30 minutes
Goal: Learn to critically edit AI-generated instructions for end users.
Topics:
- Common issues in AI-generated text (vagueness, tone mismatch)
- Technical editing principles: clarity, accuracy, and formatting
- Tone/style consistency for user documentation
Activities:
- Edit sample AI-generated procedure
- Peer feedback and final version rewrite
