Section 1

  • Getting Started with GitHub
  • Creating the Repository
    • Create a GitHub repository
    • Understand folder and file structure
    • Create index.html or index.md
    • Introduction to Markdown vs HTML

Section 2

  • Creating a Simple Website
    • Using HTML
    • Adding style.css for custom styling
  • Publishing 
    • Create a GitHub repository
    • Folder and file structure
    • Markdown vs HTML

  • Demo: Creating a website

  • Participants choose a layout, add at least 2 sections, and publish.

Section 3

  • Design Your Site
    • Organize multiple pages (For example, About the Website, Projects, Sample files)
    • Adding images and styles
    • Add Sections: Resume, Portfolio Projects
    • Using Free or paid themes (Overview)

 

Activities

  • Demo: Adding Navigation and Styling
  • Participants Add navigation and style

Section 4

  • Review website structure and plan further
  • Navigation & Styling
    • Add a navigation bar manually (HTML or Markdown)
    • Embedding GitHub projects and images

Deliverables by End of Workshop

Each participant should have:

  • A live personal website
  • At least two sections (For example, About, Projects, Resume, Blog)
  • Working navigation bar

Punit Shrivastava

About the mentor…

Having trained more than 1000+ professionals in the field of technical documentation, he helps others develop practical skills so that all can earn jobs and respect on their own.

He has been mentoring and helping the technical writing community for a long time. He prefers sharing knowledge and learning with a focus on building a skilled community. He has 23+ years of experience in writing that spreads across writing for English daily, The Asian Age, and 20+ years of experience in technical documentation.

He has led multiple technical documentation teams as Manager and Director. He has been instrumental in setting up new documentation websites, implementing new processes, setting up documentation teams, and getting Technical Documentation teams an EQUAL value in the Company environment.
